Socrates and the Clever Barber
In ancient Athens, there was a renowned barber known for his sharp wit and quick humour. He was often praised for his cleverness and thought he could outwit anyone in a debate.
One day, the barber heard about Socrates and his reputation for wisdom. Feeling confident in his own intelligence, the barber decided to challenge Socrates to a contest of wit.
He approached Socrates and said, “Socrates, I’ve heard that you are the wisest man in Athens. But I believe I can prove you wrong. I challenge you to a contest of wit. If you can’t answer my question, you’ll have to admit that I’m wiser than you.”
Socrates, known for his humility and love of learning, agreed to the challenge. The barber posed his question, “Socrates, tell me: Who shaves the barber?”
