Oysters & Pearls

Pearls are born out of discomfort when a parasite lodged inside the shell needs to be coated with secretions of nacre over years which harden into the beautiful opalescence of pearls. As oysters age, they typically produce better and better pearls. Practice leads to experience!

It is also well-known that not all oysters with parasites produce pearls worthy of the name.

Ease and comfort often go hand in hand with the bliss of ignorance whether involuntary or intentional. When all your needs, wants and desires have been met, why would you even question the status quo or delve into the uncomfortable and the dark that is sitting right inside of you? The questions we ask ourselves, define the journey and the quality of our life.

How many people are compelled to ask themselves why they are on the receiving end of so many blessings and good fortune? ‘Why am I so blessed?’ is a great question to ask to get some amazing insights and a boost of positivity! Even in such cases, when life may be good and too easy and yet not too meaningful with a hint of boredom, it may lead to the search of meaning and greater purpose.

Adversity, on the other hand, brings up lots of quick, superficial questions. ‘Why this? Why me?’ is a common refrain. It is only when one moves beyond these, that the questions become more useful and the answers lead to powerful insights.

Expectations which have not been met, a love that has not been reciprocated, relationships not nurtured that seem to have gone sour, financial restraints, dreams which have not been realised for a seeming lack of resources or unfavourable circumstances, you name it, adversity in any form leads to growth when one is willing to work through it. It is uncomfortable, unpleasant, painful and messy work but the results are gorgeous.

Out of adversity rise the toughest individuals.

If you were to look at your own life, would you be able to identify your key defining moments underlying your personal progress?

Are you somebody willing to work through your blind spots, and use your own fertile mind and being to create glowing pearls of wisdom and knowledge in an exemplified congruence with daily living that make life worthwhile and inspire those around you?
