Living with purpose means aligning our actions, values, and goals to create a meaningful and fulfilling life.

As a Life Design Consultant and Transformational Coach, I guide individuals on this transformative path using the experiences of my own.

Let me delve into the essence of living with purpose, exploring the soft and varied nuances of this concept and whether there exists a universally defined purpose for our lives as per my experience.

At its core, I see that living with purpose involves a conscious and intentional approach to life. Awareness is key to this because it goes way beyond mere existence and routine, urging individuals to explore the deeper layers of their being and discover what truly matters to them.

As a practitioner of mindfulness, like me, you begin to understand the significance of being present in the moment and cultivating awareness. Living with purpose encourages individuals to engage fully with their lives and make conscious choices that resonate with their authentic selves. It requires participation rather than distraction and involves flow and acceptance even as one is intentional in the creative process!

The unedning process often entails self-reflection and introspection, it means slowing down enough to identify patterns of thought and behaviour that may be hindering us and then transforming negative and disempowering thought patterns into more positive and constructive ones.

The concept of life purpose is subjective and unique to each individual. There is a process, at times painful, and then extremely joyful of self-discovery to unveil one’s passions, and values, and identify personal missions. Embracing gratitude is a powerful tool in this journey, as we learn to appreciate the present moment and the opportunities it holds for growth and fulfillment without comparison to the journey of someone else.

For me, positivity and optimism are two important pillars of this practice to approach challenges with a positive mindset and view setbacks as opportunities for learning, to be imbued with resilience as challenges come and go on this transformative journey.

A purposeful and meaningful life is not only attainable but also sustainable, but is the purpose something we find and discover or is it something we invent?

The question of whether there is a universally defined purpose for our lives is a complex one. Besides me, philosophers, theologians, and individuals from various walks of life have pondered this throughout history. Some argue that there is a predetermined purpose, often tied to religious or spiritual beliefs, while others assert that individuals must create their own purpose based on personal values and aspirations.

We can delve into other people’s thoughts and then carefully reach our own conclusions that resonate authentically with us once we realise that we are the only authority in our lives! Exploring the diversity of perspectives on purpose whilst remaining neutral allows you to create a safe space to explore and define your own purpose without preconceived notions.

I have found that in my journey, today, my purpose emerges from joy — it resides in gratitude for each moment, in appreciating gifts in myself and others, a feeling of awe and wonder at my life, in feeling empowered to handle challenges and seek something bigger than my individual life. It lies in realizing that we influence and impact everyone we come in contact with!

Living in joy means choosing to focus on and appreciate the positive, beautiful, meaningful aspects of each moment and situation. This includes being grateful for what you have rather than focusing on what is lacking according to an individual perspective.

Making joy is today a priority and a regular practice. Seek and ye shall find. Look for reasons to smile, laugh, have fun, express creativity, help others, and appreciate beauty and goodness daily.

Connect with people and activities that inspire you and provide satisfaction, that spark positivity. A key component is creativity, using our minds and body to dream and explore, to create, to express, to invent and to act. Activities, passions, nature, spirituality, music, service, etc. become a consistent part of your lifestyle.

Attitude counts! Life’s challenges and painful moments are truly opportunities to grow. Even suffering can be faced with inner peace and purpose. Reframe challenges as opportunities for growth — approach hardship with perspective, seek meaning in the seemingly mundane and cultivate inner peace.

Our values are fundamental indicators for our lives. Living according to your values and acting with integrity brings a sense of alignment and harmony. Knowing you did your best and lived true to your ethics is fulfilling.

Having compassion for yourself and others makes life more joyful. Practice self-compassion — judge yourself and others less, forgive more, love unconditionally as we all learn together. Love with conditions isn’t love, it’s a transaction!

The purpose I find is one of inner fulfilment, the confidence, faith and empowerment to handle difficulties, appreciation for the gifts in yourself and the world, and feeling connected to something larger than your individual life.

Purpose, I find, is allowing life to flow as you, through you in now.

Joy enables this. We are creators and can intentionally create states and realities!

As a mindfulness practitioner and life-design coach, I help clients focus on well-being and personal growth and make life choices that prioritize their mental and emotional health. This leads to personal freedom and independence allowing the person to blossom and manifest the life they deserve. Connect with me if you are seeking to go forward on your journey.
