Today is Valentine’s Day, celebrated in memory of the famous Italian Saint who was executed on the 14 February in the year 270 by the Romans and proclaimed Saint two centuries later. The poet Chaucer linked this day to romantic, courtly love in the middle ages and the tradition has continued until today, especially in the Western world with romantic dinners, gifts, chocolates and flowers, cards and red roses and slowly spread all over the world. Today, even though still considered romantic to quite an extent, the meaning has expanded to become more universal.

“Love is the whole thing. We are only pieces.”- Rumi

Whatever your beliefs are, flavoured by any religious, spiritual, universal preferences, it is clear that being loving, to oneself and the others, sharing, giving, receiving and blessing others and oneself with love and kindness brings benefits to everyone. Love encompasses nobility, generosity, forgiveness, letting-go, gratitude, appreciation, goodness… love is life itself.

“Love rests on no foundation.

It is an endless ocean, with no beginning or end. -Rumi

Our words, thoughts and actions create us and our lives endlessly. Let us be intentional in creating lives of love.

“Wherever you are, and whatever you do, be in love.”- Rumi
