Are you constantly living in fear or do you have strategies to break through?

Fear is not simply something physical that we are afraid of. We can have the fear of the unknown, the fear of judgement, the fear of rejection or the fear of facing a certain situation at work or in our homes.

Living in Fear is literally making us sick.

‘Faith over Fear’ is a powerful way to live.

I have been on this journey and I can testify that not only is it possible, it opens us to living life fully and more vibrantly!

Here are some great ways for you to embrace a ‘faith over fear’ attitude:

Awareness is key to anything; it is the first step towards moving away from anything that limits us, towards becoming more. Slow down and take stock of what you are feeling during the day. Start a mindfulness practice to stay grounded in the present moment. Mindfulness can help you manage anxious and fearful thoughts and put your focus on what you can control instead.

Gratitude and Journaling are powerful activities. Keep a journal to express your feelings, put down in black-on-white anything that is bothering you, and remind yourself of the positive aspects of your life. At any given moment, we have a lot going on for us. Appreciating life, ourselves, and the things that are going right for us even in the midst of chaos is powerful. Cultivating gratitude can strengthen our faith in the goodness of the world.

Learn to use daily positive affirmations to reinforce your faith in yourself and your abilities. Our brain learns through repetition. Repeat statements like “I believe in myself,” “I am capable of handling challenges,” and “I trust the journey I’m on.” It may seem strange at first, but there is a moment in which everything clicks into place. Practice is key. Look back and contemplate your journey, remembering and giving yourself credit for how far you have come. This will help you in realizing that so far, you have handled everything that came your way!

Visualization is one of the most powerful faculties that we have as humans! Visualize your desired outcomes and success in various aspects of your life. This mental imagery can help build your confidence and faith in achieving your goals. People often say to me that they have difficulty visualising. What they actually mean is that they are so used to imagining the worst-case scenarios that have trouble visualising the good stuff! Reach out if you need help and guidance here.

Look at who you have around you. Is it an empowering circle of influence or a disempowering one? Become intentional about who you keep around yourself. Surround yourself with positive and optimistic people. Attitudes are contagious. Spend time with people who uplift and support you. Surrounding yourself with positivity can reinforce your faith and resilience.

There is only one way to get through fear and it is getting through it! Face challenges head-on instead of indulging in avoidance behaviours. Confront fears with faith in your ability to overcome them. This can be really difficult at first, but each challenge you conquer strengthens your faith.

Seek inspiration and motivation. Know that as a human being, you can do almost anything that other human beings can do! Read books about people who conquered themselves, watch documentaries, and listen to podcasts that inspire you. There is no dearth of information today. Learning about others’ journeys can boost your faith and motivation. Remember, you can do almost anything that other human beings can do

Connect with your core values and beliefs. Aligning your actions with your values can strengthen your faith in your purpose and direction. Set intrinsic value-based SMART goals for yourself. Big goals need to be broken into smaller, achievable steps. This approach builds faith in your ability to make steady progress. Learn to encourage yourself by celebrating small wins and tuning into your feel-good factor. Get yourself accountability partners on a similar journey so you can cheer each other on. Together, acknowledge and celebrate your accomplishments, no matter how minor they may seem. Recognizing your successes bolsters your faith in your capabilities.

Become a forever student, stay open to learning at any stage and be humble enough to learn from anyone. Embrace a growth mindset and a willingness to learn from your experiences, including failures. This attitude enhances your faith in your potential for growth. Be kind and loving to yourself during times of doubt or setbacks. Self-compassion enhances self-belief and resilience.

Volunteer, be in service and help others. Share what you have, and what you learn, and give back to others. Acts of kindness and helping others reinforce your faith in the goodness of humanity and create a sense of fulfilment. Being in service makes you feel good about yourself and starts a chain reaction of good.

Reduce exposure to anything which undermines you and your faith in yourself, in the world or in life itself! Negative news, toxic situations and relationships, or self-doubting thoughts that can erode your faith need to be trashed like the files which we put into the bin of our laptops. Choose to focus on positivity, and cultivate the good, the possibilities, and the hope in something bigger and better despite the scenarios painted by a society which seeks to browbeat us into obedience through fear!

Let go of the opinions of others. Most people are ‘me-centric’ and have no time to think about you or what you are doing. How much time do you think about what is happening in your life and how much time do you devote to worrying about the lives of others? Know that people who are busy constructing great lives and being in service to the world will not criticise someone else doing the same! Most people react and respond to you from where they are, from their own insecurities and uncertainties. Realizing this will help you to release the fear of judgement and the fear of rejection.

Life is inherently uncertain and change is the only constant. Instead of fearing the unknown, have faith that you can adapt and thrive in changing circumstances. Embrace life fully, which means embracing uncertainty.

Faith is rooted in Love, which is an expansive energy as compared to fear which is a contractive energy, keeping you little and limited. Living grounded in faith and love is a beautiful aspiration and way of life and I wish for you to live from love and faith.
