Food for Thought_FRAGILITY AND FAITH
Have you ever thought about how fragile and temporary our life on this planet is?
Have you ever thought about keeping in the forefront at all times the things which are really, really important to you like your health, your peace of mind, your family, your relationships, which we often, so often, take for granted?
I’ve been brought to this realisation time and time again and the funny part is that despite my meditation and mindfulness there are times when I forget and I slip into the daily humdrum of life, the distractions, the hamster wheel, so to speak and then there are times which really bring this realisation back to me, that my life here is ephemeral, fragile, momentary.
We may be immortal, or whatever beliefs you may subscribe to regarding the existential questions of life, the fact remains that life here as we know it, can be snipped-off at a moment, we can lose the things that we take for granted in less than a moment; we can lose our senses, our health, our energy, our time.
We make plans for our life, for our time, we make long-term plans, often basing them on the concrete, tangible and material, but then again, none of it is ever a given. We make these plans in Faith, but when it comes to our daily lives we are so caught up in the small things; we are caught up in money issues, family issues, health issues, work stress, we are caught up in the petty things, opinions, personal rules, stress and disagreements in our workplaces or wherever we go, because we forget that it is all only temporary, we forget that these things that seem so important are really small things when it comes to the crunch.
We forget to go about our daily living and making our decisions and plans from the choices and options at our disposal in Faith, in Being the biggest, the best, the absolute Loving versions of ourselves and touching others by example, day after day.
These are just a few of my reflections these days.
