Doing the work, works.
You can find yourself little beyond Square One, even if you have been through many courses, read a good number of great books on Personal Development, been a part of multiple groups, attended various seminars etc.
You can find yourself more or less with the problems and issues as if locked inside an infinite loop. Perhaps the same body shape and problems with weight, finding it tough to stick to good routines for your lifestyle and health, having the same aches and pains in more ways than one, reacting to others in the same manner, feeling out of control, distracted, having problems with focus, getting more or less offended at everything that does not match up to your ideas of how things should be, go through the same negative emotional charges, have the same thought patterns running your life in a loop, be bound by the same limitations as ever before, find your relationships triggered by the same dynamics and worsening slowly and inexorably, hating you boss, job, colleagues, life, finding yourself rushed, inadequate, always seeking the next best thing/course/book/podcast etc. etc. etc. and time passes by, inexorable.
The most common reason for this lack of progress is being entrapped by your own ego that subtly closes your mind by using sneaky tricks to keep you cushy and safe in your comfort zone.
Your inner monologue may go something like, ‘This I already know. I already studied this in the last course and the ones before that. Nothing new here. I want to know something new. Give me fresh new information! Give me something that will change me and propel me forward’
The problem here is that you are looking for something external to magically fix you. You have already been through tonnes of fresh new information and it is now the same ole’, same ole’ information, even if projected from a different viewpoint. You know it all but it’s not working for you.
The only way you will change is through application.
This is a process and comes to fruition with time and experience.
You have to invest in yourself in more ways than one.
You have to stop looking for shortcuts!
You have to live the information.
You have to take time off and allow your brain to reason with it, mull over it, THINK about it, even get a brain-splitting headache at times, go through overwhelm, seek similarities and dissimilarities to your life experiences, learn to discern, become selective and cull out what is important and useful to you.
You have to let yourself sleep over it.
You have to bring awareness into your life regarding it.
You have to discuss it with others, confront your learning with theirs.
You have to practice it, apply it, use it and grow with it.
You have to let go of old ways of thinking to becoming green once more.
You will fall and you will fail before you learn.
You have to remove the label of ‘know it all’ to truly learn.
You have to open yourself up to the ‘pain’ of growth and transformation.
You have to be humble enough to know that knowing something does not equate living it!
You have to stop putting the blame on others and take full responsibility for your life and where you are.
You have to allow it to change you and allow yourself to be transformed by it all.
Doing the work, works.
